VERSUS THE WORLD frontman DONALD SPENCE to Release Solo EP “The Late Shift” via Hardline Entertainment.

[fbshare]

Donald Spence

Hardline Entertainment is proud to announce the upcoming release of “The Late Shift”, the debut solo EP from Versus the World frontman Donald Spence. Out March 4th, the EP will be a collection of stripped-down songs that highlight the singer-songwriter’s gifts for melody and story telling.

Spence has spent the last few years touring the globe with his band Versus the World (whose members include The Ataris’ Michael Davenport and Lagwagon’s Chris Flippin) in support of their latest release Drink. Sing. Live. Love. Despite the bands hectic touring schedule, Spence’s creative energy hasn’t slowed down a bit, and the “The Late Shift” is a document of the ups and downs of a life lived for art.

The EP also represents a bit of a departure for Spence, as he eschews the post-punk for which Versus the World is known, instead taking his cues from Americana, alt country, and rock and roll. The resulting collection of songs featuring the title track “The Late Shift”, Donald sings about living and loving in the working class world, “Forever the poor boys, drinking bottom shelf with the rest of the working stiffs. What ever keeps that fire lit.” Lamenting that sometimes working to just get by is more than enough. With the track “Don’t it Show”, Spence writes about the life that doesn’t stop when you leave on tour. The relationships and the world that refuse to quit turning just because you left the country. “The great healer and killer of all things. We’re all doing time.”

Listen to “The Late Shift” https://soundcloud.com/hardlineent/donald-spence-late-shift

Donald Spence and Hardline Entertainment have teamed up to release “The Late Shift” just in time for Spence and Versus the World’s stint on The Ataris “So Long Astoria” reunion tour (which will also feature support from Authority Zero and Drag the River). Spence will also be lending his services on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals on stage with The Ataris.

Donald Spence “The Late Shift” Out March 4th on Hardline Entertainment!

AUTHORITY ZERO Debuts New Year’s Eve Show Footage, Wants to See Your “Shake Face” for Next Video

[fblike]

AZ_Treated

Band releases mash-up video from their epic Tempe NYE show, calls for fan submissions for “Lift One Up” video.

Authority Zero – the reggae-infused punk band hailing from Mesa, Arizona – are releasing a mash-up video today that captures their annual New Year’s Eve performance at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ. The band is also calling for submissions for their next video for the single “Lift One Up.”

Shot by collaborator Randall Record, the New Year’s Eve video depicts the special guests, set lists, and other surprises that the band had in store for their fans. To make things interesting, the band dubbed the show a “whiteout-blackout” party complete with glow in the dark paint and black lights, and performed their debut album A Passage In Time from front to back for the first time in over a decade.

Video link: http://youtu.be/Xt7zTBqeJ5M

Additionally, Authority Zero is calling for submissions for their next video. Starting today, the band is accepting fan-made “shake face” videos and other slow motion footage for inclusion in the music video for the song “Lift One Up,” the latest single off their 2013 release The Tipping Point (Hardline Entertainment). Like the song, the video will be a celebration of their global community of fans.

Lead singer Jason DeVore explains: “After hinting on Facebook that we are highlighting our fans in our next video, we got an overwhelmingly positive response. We had people from all around the world offering to do things above and beyond our expectations. Luckily, we are only asking one simple thing: show us your ‘shake face.’ What is a ‘shake face’ you ask? Pretty much what it sounds like: slow motion footage of you erratically shaking your face from side to side for 5-10 seconds.”

In addition to “shake face” videos, the band will also consider all other slow motion footage. “Get creative and have fun with it,” DeVore explains. “We’ll consider anything that’s in slow motion – from your grandfather, skate tricks, a wet dog, bungee jumping, you name it. So long as its in slow motion, it will be reviewed for inclusion in the video.”

Here’s how fans can submit their footage:

  • Find the highest quality camera you can (the iPhone 5s has a killer one, Go-Pro, etc. – whatever you can find).

  • Film yourself for 5-10 seconds in slow motion shaking your face erratically from side to side. (Here’s an example of what we mean.)

  • Get creative and have fun with it. As long as its in slow motion, it will be considered.

  • Email footage to azshakeface@gmail.com by Saturday, February 1st 2014.

  • Include your name and home state/country.

Authority Zero will also be embarking on a co-headlining tour with Guttermouth starting January 31st at the Observatory in Santa Ana, CA, and a full U.S. tour with the Ataris, Drag the River, and Versus the World beginning March 5th at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. (Dates below.)

AUTHORITY ZERO & VERSUS THE WORLD to Support The Ataris-‘So Long, Astoria’ Reunion Tour!

[fblike]4-band-support
For the first time in a decade, the classic lineup of The Ataris will reconvene to perform their million-selling album, So Long, Astoria, in its entirety from start to finish.   For one tour only, Kristopher Roe, Mike Davenport, Chris Knapp and John Collura will share the stage to celebrate their beloved album, performing fan-favorite hits like “So Long, Astoria,” “The Saddest Song” and their iconic version of Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer.”  Support will include: Authority Zero, Drag The River, Versus The World and Gasoline Heart.  Tickets for the upcoming tour will go on sale to the public on December 20th.

In conjunction with today’s tour announcement, The Ataris has released part one of a new mini-documentary about the band’s reunion and the making of So Long, Astoria.  Watch it now, exclusively at Billboard.com.  http://bit.ly/1dkWcOE.
Formed in 1996, The Ataris went on to sell hundreds of thousands of albums on small independent label Kung Fu Records before signing to Columbia Records in 2001.  In 2003, the band released their career-defining album, So Long, Astoria, which sold over a million copies and spawned the hits, “In this Diary,” “The Saddest Song” and “Boys of Summer.”

After headlining multiple Warped Tours and selling out major tours of their own, the classic line-up of The Ataris disbanded in 2004, leaving behind a legacy of influence and rock-radio anthems that still live on today.

A decade later, that lineup will reunite for one tour to celebrate So Long, Astoria, an album that helped redefine punk rock in the early 2000’s with vivid confessionals and melodic heartfelt sing-alongs.

“I’m looking forward to going out and bringing these songs to a crowd and really giving it our all, and hopefully bringing some of these fun memories back to our fans,” singer/guitarist Kristopher Roe says.  “I really feel like the most important thing is to be reconnected with three of my old best friends.  I’m excited to go out and make music with them again.”

“It’s a lot of nostalgia to come back and do this tour,” guitarist John Collura adds.  “It’s a celebration of what the four of us accomplished as a band.”

“This tour, for me, means more of redemption,” concludes bassist Mike Davenport.  “Us four reunited again, performing what I think is one of our best albums.”

“I haven’t seen these guys in forever,” drummer Chris Knapp says.  “It’s going to be crazy.”

Christian Martucci of THOUSAND WATT STARE joins STONE SOUR!

Hardline Entertainment recording artist Christian Martucci of Thousand Watt Stare will be joining the platinum selling rock band Stone Sour, featuring Corey Taylor of Slipknot, on the band’s upcoming winter tour! Christian will be filling in for Stone Sour and Slipknot’s long time guitarist Jim Root, who is currently working on the new Slipknot record.  He will also be rejoining his former bandmate Roy Mayorga from the former Hardline punk supergroup Black President.

Thousand Watt Stare also features Pat Kim and Dylan Howard formally of Unwritten Law. From his early punk days with Dee Dee Ramone to current performances with Corey Taylor of Slipknot, guitarist Christian Martucci is no stranger to diversity.  In 2010 he recruited bassist Pat Kim, drummer Dylan Howard of Unwritten Law and THOUSAND WATT STARE was born.  The trio released their debut EP, recorded in just one day, to enthusiastic reviews.  Amp Magazine hailed them as “the saviors that rock music has been looking for,” while publications such as Roar Music Press called them “pure rock n’ roll genius.”  The band spent the rest of the year touring the west coast and began selling out venues as far as San Diego.  They added 2nd guitarist Trevor Howard and returned to the studio in 2011 to begin work on their debut full-length album “Silver Dimes.”  The album takes a shift from the straight ahead punk-influenced rock n’ roll heard on their early EP to much heavier, darker territory.  “I’ve been in a few bands over the years that were expected to sound a certain way and it just never made me happy,” says Martucci.  “It’s all about feel…  That’s the thing that makes this band special to us.  There are no rules!

Thousand Watt Stare’s Silver Dimes is available now from Hardline Entertainment.
