Dropping everything you’re doing and starting from scratch is not an easy task especially when you’re in your mid 30’s.

After celebrating a successful 20 years of existence show with punk band Useless ID (Fat Wreck Chords) to a hometown crowd in Israel it was time to take a break.

Yotam set out to the States for some soul searching, the result: “California Sounds”.

After living in his car and random houses all over the States for the past 6 months in 2015, around 70 shows in with the likes of Frank Turner, Chad Price, The Ataris, Laura Jane Grace, etc…

Yotam stopped by Bob Hoag’s Flying Blanket Studios (Built to Spill, Ataris) which consists of mostly analog gear and guitars from the 1950’s, armed with 10 brand new songs and going for a vibe where you enter a studio and leave a day later with an album done like in in the early years of Bob Dylan.

“Nobody does this anymore, everyone is so caught up in sounding perfect and auto tune and it just kills character” he says, then adds “Bob was amazing, we did 1-2 takes of each song, making very quick decisions”

All live with some overdubs here and there, the album was mixed the next day and mastered a month later by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room while Yotam passed by through Colorado for a show.

The album is more stripped down in sound and more punk in spirit than it’s predecessor “Distant Lover” which was released on Hardline Entertainment 3 years ago to be exact, as the name is stripped down as well. “Dropping my last name just felt natural after playing a show at Hermosa Beach opening for label mates The Bunny Gang featuring Nathen Maxwell of Flogging Molly, I looked at the stage times and it said Yotam 8:00-8:30 which just seemed more fitted for this album” says Yotam and adds “People just can’t remember my last name”, even Fat Mike whom I’ve known for years asked me one day “Dude, how do you say your last name again?”

Trying to catch the madness of tour life while it was happening “California Sounds” was recorded on May 4th between two US tours. It tells the story of questions that appear as we get older but aren’t ready yet to cross the line into adulthood like opener “Days of Living” , other themes dealing with new people entering our lives as others leave “Tony Sly”, “Grandfather” yet, an album is never complete without the ultimate break up song “Silver and Gold” or a lost love that didn’t come to fruition “Catastrophe” and pushing his limits to write songs on the road and completing them during drives “California Sounds”, “Young Man Bones”

“The comfort zone is the enemy” adds Yotam.

“California Sounds” is set to release Oct 30th via Hardline Entertainment followed by tours of Europe and the US starting in November.

TEMPLETON PEK Video Premier for “Fractures”

[fbshare]

Birmingham England’s own veteran punk trio Templeton Pek premier the video for ” Fractures” off their fourth full length record entitled “New Horizons”  Out Now via Hardline Entertainment. Headline and support tour dates below!

“Fractures” is fundamentally about the flaws we have in human nature. The initial line of thought was the state of the world in how we treat animals as a whole after watching documentaries like The Cove… which again is highlighted recently with the inexcusable barbaric events in Faroe Islands slaughtering because of a tradition. But the theme expands into environment and how we behave towards each other too, it seems human nature is hell bent on destroying itself and anything around it. The quote from Bob Irwin in the song sums the point up well, “it’s way past time we drew a line in the sand and we say enough is enough” and we start thinking about acting positively on our negatives before its too late to undo.”  Neal Mitchell-Vocals/Bass

~

The 11 track album was recorded by Ken Seaton at The Porch in Hermosa Beach, CA and mixed by Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Sum 41, Lit, Pennywise) at Maple Studios in Santa Ana, CA.

“….with NEW HORIZONS, Templeton Pek accomplished to record an album with melodies that have hit-potential, driving parts and a good production, which makes you want to hear them live.”  -METAL MAMMER (DE)

“….“New Horizons” convinces you with fast Post-Punk-Songs, somewhere in the middle between Rise Against and Face To Face. Definitely worth checking out!.”  -FUZE MAGAZINE

“….A mixture of melancholy and strength, that we haven´t heard from the UK since the best days of  Therapy?,  back in the mid-nineties…if you can resist melodies like in ´Fractures´, you´re a hopeless case…a great record that invites you to dive in deeper with every new spin.”  -ROCK HARD MAGAZINE

“….Birmingham Trio deliver the goods for a fourth time in true punk style….infectiously radio friendly, this album Oozes in upbeat and overly catchy choruses on each track making it hard to pick out a distinctive favorite.” -BIG CHEESE MAGAZINE

“….This is all Huge Choruses, Saccharine lyrics, emotive vocals and quick tempos slickly produced and chockfull of ear candy.”  POWERPLAY ROCK AND METAL MAGAZINE

More About Templeton Pek-

The band released “Signs” to critical acclaim in 2013 via Century Media Records. Produced by Shep Goodman (Four Year Strong, American Authors, Bayside) the album was recorded in New York City and contains songs which are now cemented in blistering live shows such as: “Barriers”, “Slow Burn”, “What Are Your Waiting For”, the radio friendly “Wake Me Up” and “Signs”

“… A BOLD, POWERFUL RECORD OF PUNKED-UP MELODIC ROCK THAT PACKS A REAL PUNCH“– Rock Sound Magazine (UK)

“…ROUSING POWER, HARMONIOUS COMBINATIONS OF ENERGETIC UP-BEATS, HOOKS AND MELANCHOLIC MELODIES.“– Rock Hard Magazine (DE)

“…CLEARLY AND DEFINITIVELY SETS ITSELF BETWEEN PUNK AND ROCK…AN INTERESTING MODERN ROCK ALBUM WITH A PUNK WAIVER.“– Metal Hammer (DE)

Having toured most of UK and Europe over their career since the release of their debut “No Association” in 2008, the band are well seasoned whether playing large festivals, Arenas, Academies or club shows. Sharing stages with the likes of: Sum 41, Rise Against, Taking Back Sunday, Bullet For My Valentine, Pendulum, Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, Pennywise, Four Year Strong, Mindless Self Indulgence, Millencolin, Zebrahead, No use For A name and more.

Built with a DIY ethic engrained into them, the band even self recorded and self produced their sophomore album “Scratches & Scars” in 2011 to critical acclaim.

Whilst “Signs” was their most successful album to date, behind the scenes there was turmoil occurring without the bands knowledge resulting in an unamicable split with their management company as it collapsed mid campaign.

The band began writing again in early 2014, and now in contact with Ken Seaton of LA based label Hardline Entertainment who had expressed interest in the band. Accepting his offer of recording a new album in his studio The Porch in California, the band flew to the US and spent over a month living and recording in Hermosa beach, Los Angeles, hometown of Black Flag, Descendents, All and Pennywise. Following a productive session in LA, Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Sum 41, Lit, Pennywise, Ignite) then came onboard and mixed the album in Maple Studios, CA.

The band states: “Being in a town so rich in punk rock and specifically melodic punk rock inspired us to record “New Horizons” and make it sound the way it does. It’s definitely a new era for us as band on so many levels.”

The album is about using and building on the past, and that’s exactly the drive that the band has. Armed with a new label, new management, a new member and a new batch of songs that represent and sound like a band that has a new lease in life, the album title speaks for itself.

“Primarily it is a positive album about going back to writing songs that made us want to be in a band, or listen to bands in the first place and its an album about moving forward.”

Created by former 98 Mute band mates Jason Page (guitarist/music) and Justin Thirsk (throat/drummer/ words), whose older brother, Jason Thirsk (R.I.P.), was the founding member and former lyricist/bassist of Pennywise, the lineup is rounded out by Pennywise co-founder and guitarist Fletcher Dragge (co-throat/bass/producer.)

The trio has crafted an album that has taken an exhausting and life-threatening journey of over 8 years to complete. These three longtime friends wrote and recorded the record during their time off because they love playing together and enjoy getting into the studio to go crazy whenever they can.

Burn Motherfucker Burn is CHAOS DELIVERY MACHINE’S second release and the follow up to their 2005 album, Manifesto.

About CHAOS DELIVERY MACHINE:

CHA OS (ka os), n. a state of utter confusion or disorder.

DE LIV ER Y( di liv’er y), n. the act or manner of giving or sending forth.

MA CHINE (me shen’), n. an apparatus consisting of interrelated parts with separate functions, used in the performance of some kind of work.

Whatever feats, trials, or sufferings you’ve recorded in the pages of your biography that you point to as testaments of the mettle by which you measure your quality, accept now these crucibles merit you absolutely nothing of value. Throw all of that shit away. To bend an ear to the noise would annihilate everything you think you know and believe about your life and the sphere of existence in which that story is set. Indeed, it would provoke a moral, philosophical, and intellectual devolution too sudden and irreversible to conceive. This will uncover the great sham of petty notions like “person,” “self,” and “civilization,” unraveling 20,000 generations worth of “evolution” from dung-flinging chimp to homo sapien wastrel in 45 minutes of cacophony. This is the sophomore album that has taken 87,613 hours to complete and is titled BURN MOTHERFUCKER BURN which they hope your mind and soul and every fiber of your being along with the rest of this sick and pitiful world will do immediately after the first listen. Verily, this is but the reflection in your mirror: a primate with a hat and a lengthy vocabulary who sees not his toes are at the brink of the abyss.

Though you may abide by the aforementioned caveat and heed well its admonition, such measures will only fractionally postpone the unthinkable inevitable already taking shape before you. You will have to come to the horrifying truth eventually. Sure, you may triumph in avoiding so many moons by cutting the ears off your head or storing your frozen face in the long sleep of a cryogenic vat, but the reality of the matter is that you will be ultimately hunted down and devoured whole.

How could one respond to the One Truth? O you marked for death—know by name the left-handed trinity that are Doomsday’s harbingers. Guitarist Jason Page, bassist and co-throat, Mr. Fletcher Dragge and lead throat/drummer, Justin Thirsk dig up the bones of your soul’s dreams and pummel them to dust. There is a grim and horrifying reality to this world, which humankind has struggled to comprehend for thousands of years, and what those unlucky few of us who already know have tried desperately to forget.

Let shame become you! After the eons-long gurgle in the primeval waters, you flopped inelegantly on primitive flippers from the Precambrian seas, then stretched your limbs and made yourself upright to build towers for gazing at the stars. Now make disgrace your song, for from those high battlements you made a heaven of the sky, and seated gods on celestial thrones that your eyes could not see. You authored your own Creators and crowned yourselves masters of the realm beneath them, all the while forgetting what you were and from where you came: microbial phlegm flung indiscriminately and unceremoniously into the acid pools of a floating rock by the ever-indifferent hand of Time. Now the fantasy is too repulsive to bear any longer. What pitiful creatures you have become, arrogant and delusional. To think all that DNA of yours has fought and battled through epochs and Ice Ages to culminate into this grotesquely plastic, self-adulating, sociopathic asswipe, willfully detached from the reality you deny you inhabit. The lie cannot be tolerated any longer. We are all great frauds of humanity and will be pulverized and sundered.

Life as it truly is: a corn husk on the threshing floor, a cattle carcass in the slaughterhouse, a moth in the spider web and the sullen truth is now revealed. We usher in the long overdue denouement to the great farce that is humankind. T. S. Eliot was gravely wrong: the world does not end with a whimper, it ends with a gurgle—in a steaming pile of shit.

“The song is about how people as a whole throw masses of bullshit at you in a vain attempt that some sticks just to distract your attention from real issues. The modern media and Rupert Murdoch in general are experts at it. Unfortunately it is also rife within the music industry and its about trying to make sense of those situations with positive actions, something we now have lots of experience in.Neal Mitchell-Vocals/Bass

“New Horizons” is set to release July 24th worldwide via Hardline Entertainment.

“I literally wrote the words to this song on a rooftop in Brooklyn,” says Versus The World singer/guitarist Donald Spence. “I was visiting some friends in New York and we were passing around bottles, and catching up on some years we’d missed out on. I think everyone has people in their lives that they love, but time or distance, life in general really, has taken you to different places. It’s just important to remember that the only currency relationships really run on is time spent. So it’s a song about catching up. One of my favorite nights ever.”

“A Brooklyn Rooftop” follows the band’s previously released debut track “The Santa Margarita,” which pays tribute to fallen friend Tony Sly (No Use For A Name) and features guest vocals byDave Hause.

Versus The World will be performing two album release shows in Southern California before heading to Europe for a tour with Strung Out in late June and July.

CHAOS DELIVERY MACHINE Launch Pre-Orders

Chaos Delivery Machine Launch Pre-Orders for Upcoming LP ‘Burn Motherfucker Burn’, Out July 10th on Hardline Entertainment;
cdm_presale
Band Features Jason Page & Justin Thirsk of 98 Mute and with Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise; New Track (“Where The Sidewalk Ends”) On Punknews.
Hermosa Beach, CA’s CHAOS DELIVERY MACHINE have launched pre-orders for their sophomore record, ‘Burn Motherfucker Burn’, out July 10th via Hardline Entertainment.

To stream “Where The Sidewalk Ends”, a new track off the record, head over to  http://www.punknews.org/article/57177/media-chaos-delivery-machine-pennywise-98-mute-where-the-sidewalk-ends
Burn Motherfucker Burn” will be available digitally, as well as on vinyl and CD.
