sstour2013April 3, 2013 – Los Angeles, CA – Mesa’s seminal punk rock band comes fresh off yesterday’s release of their highly anticipated new album, The Tipping Point, to announce they will kick off a “2013 Summer Sickness Tour” with Ballyhoo and Santa Barbara based, Hardline Entertainment labelmates Versus The World.

Almost two decades into their career, Authority Zero have roared back with one of their strongest albums to date, The Tipping Point.  Streaming now on Altpress.com and AOL.com and available for purchase at iTunes, Amazon, Hardline Entertainment and at local indie retailers, The Tipping Point showcases the band’s signature blend of skate punk and reggae fans have come to love, while pushing the boundaries of their songwriting and resulting in a fast-paced record that could arguably be there best yet.

Authority Zero will hit Europe this week for a month and a half long tour in support of The Tipping Point, before heading home to the U.S. for the “2013 Summer Sickness Tour.”

A staple in the West Coast punk rock scene for almost two decades, Authority Zero return at the top of their game with one of the band’s best albums to date.  Produced by Cameron Webb (Pennywise, Social Distortion, Motorhead) at Maple Studios in Orange County, The Tipping Point showcases the band’s unique blend of punk rock, rock ‘n’ roll and reggae on twelve high energy tracks like “No Other Place,” “21st Century Breakout” and “Today We Heard The News.” .

 

 

Additionally, Authority Zero will celebrate the new album with a performance and signing at Zia Records in Phoenix (1850 W. Camelback Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85015) on April 2nd, before heading to Europe for a month and a half long tour shortly thereafter.  The band is also expected to announce a full U.S. summer tour in the coming weeks.

“This song is very dear to my heart,” singer Jason DeVore tells ThePier.org.  “I was at my house working on the new Authority record and I went online to find out that Tony Sly of No Use For A Name had unexpectedly passed away.  It instantly struck a nerve and I just started writing.  No Use was one of the first bands we’d ever toured with back in 2001.  It made me start thinking of the good times we had on the road and how at any given moment (as with many other musicians who have passed on early) it can be taken from you in an instant.  There’s always that possibility that you may not make it home, so don’t take anything in this life for granted.”

Yotam Ben Horin US Tour Dates!

Yotam Ben HorinTo most people, Yotam is already known as the lead singer/ bass player / songwriter of the israeli punk rock band Useless ID (Fatwreck chords)

With Useless ID still completely intact and several records under his belt( not to mention a string of successful local punk rock albums he produced) Ben Horin has taken a left turn into his latest project, a solo album highlighting Yotam’s songwriting sensibilities while decidedly ‘toning things down a little.

Ben Horin has constructed a quiet set of brand new musical gems, entirely produced and arranged by himself.

Now armed with a six string in his hand he has put together an epic trio in support of his new works. The songs mostly deal with emotions, love, self doubt and all that great personal shit we all have to deal with: but his take on it is pretty direct and surprising. In these songs his influences of Death Cab For Cutie and Eliot Smith are apparent.

His debut solo album was mixed by AJ Mogis ( Bright Eyes / Cursive) and mastered by Doug Van Sloun and is available now at the www.HardlineEnt.com/store.

Hardline Signs The Sparring; New EP Out March 5th!

Hermosa Beach indie label Hardline Entertainment is proud to welcome hardcore punk band The Sparring to its eclectic stable of bands, with plans to release the group’s new EP titled Rise Up via Hardline Entertainment on March 5th.

In anticipation for the upcoming release the band recently debuted a video for the first new track called “Straitjacket”

Hailing from California’s hot-bed for punk rock and hardcore, Orange County, The Sparring got their start in early 2010 with a three song demo, showcasing the band’s explosive amalgam of punk, hardcore and metal, and led them to perform at the MusInk festival and on short tours along the West Coast.

Word spread fast of their incredibly rowdy shows, which eventually caught the attention of local punk label Old Shoe Records who signed the band and released their debut full-length, Docks, Boats and Ropes, in 2010. The record added fuel to the band’s already buzzing reputation and the band was invited to perform at Warped Tour that summer.

The SparringOver the next few years The Sparring toured and performed dates with the likes of Every Time I Die, Face to Face, Death By Stereo, Street Dogs, Gallows, Cro-Mags, Cancer Bats, Flatfoot 56 and Riverboat Gamblers to name a few. And after some additions and losses to their lineup, The Sparring cemented their current members with Copper Fernandez (vocals), Jay Stolo (guitar), Dave Yllescas (guitar) and Gilbert Pichardo (bass).

In late 2011 The Sparring entered OSSR Studios in their hometown of Fullerton to record their follow-up, Rise Up, with the band’s guitarist Solo producing, Paul Minor (New Found Glory, Atreyu, Thrice) mixing and mastering at Buzzbomb Studio and Lee Barret from UK punk band Gallows filling in on drums. After weeks of recording the band emerged with a turbulent five track EP that teems with aggression and rage.

“Collectively as a band we grew up digging the old school side of music and this new EP definitely represents where we are coming from,” explains Yllescas. “We achieved a sound that foremost we dig and ignoring the standard gimmicks in the process.”

Upon finishing the EP the band signed with Hardline Entertainment, home to Authority Zero, Thousand Watt Stare, Neo Geo and AllurA among others, to release the next chapter of their musical chaos.

Not many people understand the harsh reality of a working class band,” says Stolo. “Hardline does, and chooses to kick that reality to the side, keeping it fun and helping us stay focused on our goals.”

“We’re beyond excited for the opportunity to be apart of the Hardline family,” Fernandez adds. “We’re ready to grow with them and just wreck it out there.”
