Musket, hailing from Manhattan Beach, California, has established the new moniker for surf/beach music: stomp rock. The music is designed to captivate the audience through its fist-pumping sing-a-longs, infectious hooks, booze-drenched attitude, women, debauchery, angst, style, energy, swagger & grit.
The band consists of Eric Lyman (Slackstring, AWOL), Brad Gerlach (Skinwalker, The Intrepid Shadows, professional/top big wave surfer), Davey Latter (Everest, The Black Pacific, Great Northern, Earlimart, Slydel, Too Rude, Standford Prison Experiment) and Matt Muir (Slackstring, AWOL).
Gone are the days of the crooning singer/songwriter with his acoustic guitar humming at the beach. Musket combines the traditional downbeat tempos of early rock n’ roll with overdriven guitars, intelligent lyrics, creative compositions, hard-hitting drums, gut-rumbling bass, attitude and balls. The band offers no apologies, no bullshit, no agenda; just a guaranteed party, a communal bottle of Makers Mark, a slight hangover, a swift kick in the ass and songs that will be stuck in your head for days.
Their 2009 release Draw Ramrods has experienced worldwide success with songs featured on MTV, Fuel TV, The WC, Havoc Television, KROQ, The Adam Corolla Show, Rockstar Energy Drink, Primo Beer & Electric Sunglasses content, global commercials, and multiple action sports films. Musket has shared the stage with Ziggy Marley, Jason Mraz, Big Head Todd, Fishbone, Switchfoot, Tom Curren, Iration and more. Musket’s Holiday single “Christmas Blow” yielded national radio airplay with the music video was featured on Comcast and Havoc Television in 33 million homes.
Musket’s 11-song sophomore album is due out Fall 2011 on Hardline Entertainment — Produced and Engeneered by Musket and Ken Seaton of Hardline Entertainment, Mixed by Dean Dichoso, and Mastered by Little Red Book Mastering/Mark Chalecki. The album features a cameo by Jim Lindberg (Pennywise, The Black Pacific).
Musket is low down n’ dirty, scary and brilliant. The sound is calculated, sloppy, Brit-punky-rock with plenty of American cock & balls. Clever tongue n’ cheek lyrics will prove to be downright contagious. The formula yields the perfect mix of booze and contempt. Musket’s music rumbles, rolls and swings. Strap-in and enjoy the ride.
